    To those who commented on my little Powerknife girls page, TY for all the nice compliments; no doubt, you all know that it’s a partial-parody of the Powerpuff Girls; what you may not know is that it’s also a parody of my favorite band, Shonen Knife, the ever-young Punk-Pop group out of Osaka Japan (Who will be touring the UK and Europe again this fall)

    Looks the the One in-Green is the “hottie,” just like the Cartoon. we have an “ever-young Punk-Pop group” out of N.Y.C., Sonic Youth, but these Dais youtube affords mi the opportunity to try ’em out [SK]. . . . One of yer “Capp” Characters a la McCracken would be a style People readily recognize, oui?

    @Gweedo Murray

    I enjoyed reading about ‘The Chief’ He sounds awesome to me. Sorry to hear he passed away. I actually like that quote: “A pro doesn’t count” I’m sure that applies to Andy Capp too. Don’t you think?

    I know a lot of people who say “I’ll call you back” or “I’ll email/text you soon” and they never do. I think I’m a guilty one there as I promised my cousin I would text him to remind him or update him about something and I completely forgot. HE didn’t forget though… He asked me why I hadn’t texted him but he said it in a humourous way.

    I liked the tributes to Leo McKern yesterday too… He’s my favourite ‘Number Two’ in the series also. I’ve watched The Prisoner a full 5 times and enjoyed it immensely.

    That info on the Niagara River was quite interesting. It’s a beautiful place but I only know that from looking at photos of it on the Internet. Being there in real life would be a lot better.I hope you don’t trip over your ‘weed whacker’ again… Or anything else for that matter as it’s always a shock when you fall. I should know but 95% of my falls were because of my carelessness.

    I have another doctor appointment to get my BP checked after being on the medication for a while. Appointment is on 19th June where I’ll be somewhere in the middle of the 7 day break. I’m sure everything will be fine.

    A very Happy Wednesday to you!

    To us youngsters Buff was a hero. He came home to his Aunt Myra’s house, where he was staying at the time, (1973 or ‘4) late and in ’a condition’ and tripped on the coat rack… I think it was laying for him, and broke his laig, as he would say. As an overseas WWII Euro. veteran he was in the VA hospital for a spell where Donny and I had opportunity to visit a Master Sauceman at R&R. I suspect Buff was a mechanic as he would talk of being “well oiled” on some occasion or another. He had a cartoon parody book of popular cartoons like Popeye, Superman etc. Popeye was doing the kinds of things with Miss Oyl that can’t be described in a family publication or even a place like the “Goat”. Ditto for Superman and Lois Lane.

    To Mom he was a thorough going pain in the you know what when he would sometimes drop by the house in his favorite state. Dad was at work (night shift-post office) and she had to weather the “intellectual dribblings” all on her own. People are very intelligent and profound when ‘lubricated’ !   I learned from Mom that when you feed coffee to a drunk in an attempt to sober them up, all you get is “a wide awake drunk” – her words. He was actually a pretty smart well educated guy. Had some good paying jobs that were lost to drink.

    Not prone to falling, so guess I was due.

    I haven’t been a Prisoner as much as you guys have, but I think I like the Kern guy best. He strikes me as eccentric, much like the tone the series appears to take. In fact, he puts me in mind of a more crusty Mr. French.Sorry about the bigness. Aint he cute ?

    I am a prisoner of sorts however… Despite his ‘cluck cluck’ nature, your cuz sounds like a good kid. Happy Thursday to you !

    Since in real time and in cartoon history, Andy was a WWII vet, let’s remember that today marks the beginning of the Normandy Invasion. As the years pass so quickly, there are fewer and fewer of these brave surviving vets left among us. We honor those brave men, as well as the many who gave their lives that day, so that we could be free.

    I don’t mean to be horrible or anything but I really hope people don’t start expressing their political views on here.They can talk about it as much as they like… Just somewhere else.The poster in today’s strip cracked me up though.xxx

    Falling Boulder area – Be aware! (or at least read what Gweedo has to say)Not Joey !!!That “Thunk” song he did on what amounts to the last Airplane record before the “ship” launched into heavy rotation radio space was pretty neat. I once read online, some years back, how after a concert one night they were jamming in one of their rooms at the hotel where they invented the 30 minute “Sh&tty As You Feel” number which of course, was company cleaned up to “Pretty As You Feel” and ran about 9 minutes and with further pressure, reduced to the six minute immortal piece that the world knows. Out of all those guys Jorma’s Hot Tuna had to be the best spinoff and was already a side project for Jorma (Kaukonen) and Jack (Cassidy) well before the group hit rough waters. I enjoyed Spencer’s time with the Airplane. Skip was too short of a tenure. The liner notes on the “Jefferson Airplane Takes Off” reissue cd state how Marty Balin wanted to form a group and had hand picked the various players, excepting Grace, who I believe was working with The Great Society at the time. Skip Spence was actually a guitar player that Marty preferred to have on drums for his group. Skip went on to cofound Moby Grape as its guitar guy. .A short note on today’s “political” Capp. As one poster noted…. the “Guard” and its ilk are not here. Count Your Blessings !.I want Mikey’s real life P.P. girls !  All uv um, at once !…. At twice !!

    @Gweedo Murray

    I absolutely loved your story about ‘Buff’ I read it about 4 times.

    So he was a comics fan too? I used to have Popeye on VCR. Sorry to hear about the broken leg.

    I liked your Mum’s words about his drunken state! That’s a shame about his job losses.

    I love The Prisoner… Although there was one episode I didn’t really think much of. It was called ‘Dance of the Dead’ I’m not sure if you’ve saw that one.

    Your ‘Mr French’ photo didn’t really appear as the Tripod logo came up… But if you meant the one that Linda had posted then yes he is very cute.

    My cousin is a kid all right… A BIG kid. He’s got a great sense of humour and is forever messing up things and torments me about the blood donor needle but he’s helped me through some bad times. He really drives me crazy sometimes but he’s the best cousin I have.

    I hope you have an awesome day. Happy Thursday to you too.
