Worse still, when Tom realizes that Doris has just created a decrease in auction value of 50% when he gets over the Cowboy phase and tries to sell them on Ebay as a full set.
Been out all evening, fairly late into the night, in fact, and then a long trip back to Ballard Street….
Elvis, my hound dog car, and I, mindful that this is Cowboy and Cowgirl night, cheerfully singing western songs the whole way, to help keep each other awake…And then, during the last, peaceful stretch along Ballard Street, knowing we’re almost to the salon…and sleep….to pass the open drapes of Tom and Doris’ place and witness this…this… savagery…
I was indeed working at the farmer’s market, as I do on Wednesday nights all summer….
And there really is nothing like a homegrown tomato…. except the ones I help sell taste homegrown, being home garden varieties from a small farm in the Valley.
Brought plenty with me… if you’d like some, stop by the salon tomorrow…not early in the morning….
Bev…. don’t I always make sure there’s plenty of yak for you?
You can order it 24 hours a day at the Tiki Bar!
If it’s ribs you want, and the Monkey hasn’t been pulling ‘em out of the smoker (or at least having me do it,) there’s almost always a supply in the fridge…
and if not, there’s yak roast (platters and sandwiches,)…. or yak steak, yak’n’tater hash, yakburgers and sometimes yakloaf on the menu.
Seeing as she has the broom she probably wants to be in front of the horses for a while. Tired of walking behind them. Pushing a broom and a wheel barrow.
Tom, if Doris has told you once, she’s told you a thousand times, those ponies need to stay in the corral! Time to ride the fence…as much as you and the ponies don’t want to be fenced in….Don’t Fence Me In (Roy Rogers)
Well, Ballardeeers, age is creeping up on the ole Capt.I would be remiss if I didn’t give a Happy Birthday Greeting to my neice ( who reads this strip ) and my youngest son ( who doesn’t ). Both turn 40 today ! Where does the time go ?
@Stel, I can remember playing with little plastic horses like that (but I never had those as a child, so they were some friend’s or my own kids?) and that song reminds me of my childhood (and is used in a commercial I hear daily) but I did not know that Trigger was trained in dressage! Seems now a little effeminate for a cowboy. My cousin, Nancy bought a dressage horse that she learned to ride and compete and one DIL rides rodeo stuff on her horse. I prefer, well, you know not a horse!
It snot that Doris has anything agenst Cowboy Nite…. (speshuly teh spurs part)… its jus that she had warned teh head of teh herd (“Ol Nickelback”) ta stay teh hell away frum her prize begonia’s…. an when she went out this mornin’…. an saw teh hole herd…. well, a message needed to be scent
Back in THOSE teen age days, I might actually be seen dancing to THIS Naturally I pictured myself in a skin-tight red gown with a nice black bull whip! LOL
Beviek, you got me on that one. Not a bad day. Only 90 with 60% humidity. I am 61. The guy next to me on the assault is 25. He fell out. I just refused to. That is our SRT rig for working with the Rangers on dangerous entries and assaults. The Rangers always back us up. They are taking care of the “horses”.
And Linquist, happy day for yours.I can tell you where time goes.It goes forward, ALWAYS forward. Just like a BIG wave.Do what I do. Ride the crest and yell Kowabunga!!!!!!!Of course I know you are a Captain so must maintain the “airs” of leadership. Capt, give it a try. I will still salute you in the morning. (ha)
bev, you may not believe me when I say I’ve never, ever had a girl scout cookie. I would say that since my early 20’s I slowly started to back from the sweets. The only thing I can’t seem to turn down right now is Pepsi and Doctor Pepper.
But you can wave donuts, pies, cakes & cookies in front of my face and I won’t bite.
The only exception to that pie thing is the French Canadian meat pie, which is made with a 50-50 split of ground beef and ground pork. That is my winter time comfort food. Love it!
bev, I posted the recipe on the Citizen Dog recipe page. A number of us have posted recipes there. I’ll post the link a little later on when I get to my computer.
Yes, Stel, he and I have gone cycling together back in the day and I’d be fine with the Vespa type too. For anything bigger I’d rather ride behind and hold on. LOL!
Just got back from my hawks (only one of 3 left in the nest) and had a Skype with my youngest son tonight too.

Speaking of the last roundup, I’m finishing this Redbreast off and heading for the hacienda – It’s been a long day. As our friend #6 would say: BCNU .
