Pseudo-conservatives want fewer laws that limit freedoms, but only for issues they agree with. Everything they disagree with need to be limited with intrusive laws.
Two questions for “government is the problem” politicians:
1: Why do you want so much to become part of the problem (i.e., why did you run for office if government is so bad)?
2: Is the only answer to the problems of government to try to shut it down, or to make it better?
I would think the latter, but most people who hate the government they’re part of seem to want to just dismantle it. I submit that is no better than allowing it to grow unfettered.
