Methinks the plugger sergeant seems scarier than the sergeant on the “Beetle Bailey” comics.

Anyone else notice that, for being in the Army, they are dressed like Marines?

The Army switched from the Dress Greens to the Dress Blues a few years ago. The flag isn’t worn on dress uniforms either.

    That’s not a dress uniform.

During Basic, AIT, and BUT at Ft. Hood, I was forced to do a bizillion push-ups because I was from Central Texas and would not say anything against my native state! May GOD forgive Sgt. Simpson for his inhumane acts directed toward me.

Army DI’s wear campaign hats too. The uniforms are probably the result of Mr. Bookins not having a clear photo of Army recruit + DI to refer to. (If we’re going to be picky, the trainee’s cap looks more like a USMC cover, and the Army issues brown t-shirts, not white). Hey, I still like the comic, and I don’t expect it to be an Army Life documentary!

OOPs I did not mention that my training at Ft. Hood was from Oct. 1966 to Oct. 1967. The next 12 months was spent in Viet Nam, 198th Lt Inf Bg as an 11B.

I wished the DI would get a horrible case of the runs.

My cousin went back to Camp Pendleton as a DI after he finished his tour of duty in Vietnam.
