Maybe if the south and U.S. would stop conducting military “exercises” well north of the DMZ, essentially provoking the North, every year, things wouldn’t stay so “hot button”?
@bruceI agree with you about in the recent decades the US tends to wildly ‘lash out’. do you remember when “measured response” was our national policy. If we only had done a measured response to 9/11 instead of falling into bin ladens published trap things would be much better today.
If North Korea attacks the United States, this will begin World War III.…And if China intervenes on North Korea’s behalf, it should be considered an act of war, just like it was in 1950 when Chinese troops poured over the Yalu River.…We should not care if the Chinese view the Korean Peninsula as the “dagger pointed at their throat” and that foreign troops on Korean soil pose a threat to Chinese security, if they intervene on Pyongyang’s behalf, it’s an act of war against the United States of America.…And if this war escalates into a nuclear exchange, so be it—may the survivors be American.

I believe a drone landing on Kim’s desk with an ultimatum would do a lot. “Open the borders and dismantle your arms or the next one explodes.”
