Banning assault weapons may help prevent another Newtown, but won’t put a dent in the every day shootings.Universal background checks on all gun sales, limit the size of ammo clips, subject semi-auto rifles to the same restrictions as we do for fully automatic rifles.Repeal the NRA backed law that lets convicted felons regain their gun rights.
Poor guy thinks he’s the first person to be harassed by a self important Protective Services employee. He should try “standing up” to them without his NRA lawyer. The cops look like they’d rather be anywhere else.I’m curious to know what the kid was going to hunt with his fatigues & AR-BB gun.
Harley, it’s so easy. If Feinstein’s assault weapons ban had not been allowed to lapse under W., the shooter in Newtown would not have had access to that gun. It was purchased after the lapse, and was illegal during the ban. He would have attacked the school with a bunch of small handguns without 30-round clips, and lives would have been saved. Same for the theater in Aurora Colorado.
“WHat are you trying to BAN??”Personally, I’m not trying to ban anything. Contrary to popular belief, you can still buy & own a fully automatic Thompson machine gun, but it’s way more expensive & a more rigorous background check than you need for an AR-15 knockoff. I would make higher caliber semi-auto rifles & pistols subject to a tighter background check than revolvers & bolt action type rifles. Make magazine with more than 10 or 12 rounds harder to get.We already do this with machine guns, so I don’t know why that is constitutional but any change in the line is not.The kid’s .22 with a 10 round clip is not an assault weapon (as I’m sure you know) although it’s obviously meant to look like one. The only things I can think it would be good for are shooting a nest of rats & spraying bullets at the range. Probably not accurate enough for any real hunting. So, why did Dad make a present of it?
“Society is outraged when CPS shows up to do a welfare check because CPS is “harassing them for no good reason.” Society is outraged when a child is abused and neglected because CPS did not intervene or was not allowed to “harass them for no good reason”.”I heard a woman talking today about how she & her husband were interrogated by the police after her infant died of SIDS. The cops claimed there was a bruise on the child & wanted to know if there had been an “accident”. Turns out they made it up. No bruise, they were just fishing. My point was that this guy’s outrage was over the top. Waxing indignant because CPS showed up is silly. CPS has to follow up on EVERY call, bogus or not. This particular woman bungled the situation, of course.
“Has it been proven that a reformed guy is more likely to be repeater or something? Can you give me case law where this has backfired? Or are you just shooting your lib mouth off.”Common knowledge that repeat offenses by convicted felons are, well… common. Many cases documented if you Google “NRA felon gun rights”.
“To libs everyone should be checked and tagged. to most This is me, I have no reason for you to deny me. Now shred that and leave me alone!”What was your stance on same sex marriage again? Leave them alone? Didn’t think so.
“WHat are you trying to BAN?? DUH!!!! Sorry I have to yell but you do not listen!”I listen to facts, Harley. The facts show more guns = more deaths. The only thing you guys have is to point at the 2nd Amendment & say, “MY RIGHT!!”

It bears repeating: thanks to Lewis Black:
The Republicans are the party of bad ideas. The Democrats are the party of no ideas.
Less to the point of this toon, but equally relevant, this time thanks to Frank Zappa:
Republicans is fine as long as you’re a millionaireDemocrats is fine if what you own is what you wear.

Only the adult should be allowed to own guns. That rule would eliminate most of the US population.

Why even argue about it. Require membership in a well regulated militia. The gun has to be turned in if the memeber’s membership lapses.
