Tell your pack rat of a mother to go home, Cathy. If you don’t, you’ll never get anything organized that you want to keep and disposed of that you don’t. :-/

If you lined the exterior walls with the ‘clothing preserves’ you would increase the insulation in your home. That is about the only plus I can see for Mom’s actions – unless of course it is clothing of sentimental value.

Happy Friday eve to everyone in the Cathy Clan.

Today’s is kinda strange, but maybe this is the clothing version of keeping the plastic on nice furniture that my grandmother used to do?

Hello Cathy friends! Happy Thursday! I got rid of some wood hangers today, which I was excited about. I know it doesn’t seem like much, but they were just hanging there, without clothes on them, so it’s a step forward in my closet. It may take me forever, but I’ll get through this stuff eventually. Thanks for your note, Sis! The roof is fixed now, but two days of scraping and banging was wearing on all of our nerves. Happy that the roof is new though, especially with the storms we get here. The water leaks are somewhat contained. I need to call a plumber next… :-\ Have a nice night, everyone!

Kinda defeats the purpose of cleaning a closet, if ya ask me.

Of course, without this scene, where would we find our daily [eye-roll]?

    HI, MOM. Greetings, “Cathy” Clan.

I’m certainly not one to talk but, if that sweater doesn’t have any sentimental value for you and if Mom wants to seal it hermetically, let her take it home and line her own closet with it.

Part of the problem is that Anne was raised with the old Depression/WW II mantra of “Use it up/Wear it out/Make it do/Or do without.” Such a belief was necessary during the Depression when money was scarce and when rationing hit during WW II and it became even harder to find replacement goods. That’s why so many of Anne’s generation are packrats — they’re afraid of tossing something that they might need someday and won’t be able to replace if it’s gone for good.
