Earl can not be bothered for he has a whole lot of nothing to do and he does not want to loose his place.

Why can’t Opal go shopping alone? I’ve never understood why women insisted on dragging their husbands along to do something they don’t want to do. If I waited for my husband, I’d never leave the house.

Earl didn’t say he didn’t want to go shopping, just implied that it wasn’t his idea. And maybe they’ll stop at Lowe’s! Just sayin’ …

I shop for my mom my husband buys for us, I do not go with him.
