Of course, you are not supposed to retaliate or defend yourself against muslims and Islam.

Under another cartoon, one of our regular posters pointed out that there is no one more dangerous than a person whose back is against the wall. Hamas is guilty of many offenses against Israel, there is no denying this. Israel has been engaged in policies that are pushing ALL Palestinian backs against the wall. Despite the best efforts of several US presidencies, Israel’s government talks peace and two nation solution while permitting development in land that is being contested. I see why Hamas is attacking Israel. They have had time to smuggle arms across a fluid Egyptian border and to dig tunnels and weapon placements throughout the territory and they are hoping for help from sympathetic arab nations. I understand why some Americans feel their nation is being taken away from them and their rights to bear arms, hate people of whom they disapprove, and force their religious views upon others is being taken away. But just as I support the US Government’s right, AND duty, to suppress violence done by hate groups in the USA, I support Israel’s right to return fire against weapons being fired at their citizens.Hamas would do well to learn the lessons taught by Gandhi, Martin Luthor King, and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Peaceful protest takes a long time, but in the face of superior military resources, it is the wiser path. The Muslim’s would do well to shame Israel into compliance instead of creating sympathy and support for Israel with these poorly considered attacks.Dr. Canuck disapproves of me saying things like this, but….I pray the God of Abraham gives wisdom to the children of Israel and Ishmael as well as the followers of Jesus. May those who worship the most merciful and compassionate Allah, and the loving Father figure given to us by Christ, develop compassion and mercy within themselves, and find a way to respect, if not love, others with whom we share the planet.Respectfully,C.

If you place tremendous value in an afterlife, it’s much more likely that you’ll throw your life away in futility.

None of these people follow Christ and his ideals, so you are wasting your breath. There’s a massive difference between following the teachings of Christ and being a “Christian.” I have yet to meet a self described “Christian conservative” who actually believed in the teachings of Christ. Some actually denigrate them. Thanks to the Arab spring, Hamas has sympathetic backers in Egypt now.No, that would be thanks to Israel’s retaliations killing so many innocent civilians just trying to live their lives. Neither side in this conflict is innocent. They both have civilian blood on their hands. The US needs to boycott to both sides until they start serious negotiations.

Those people must recognize and emphasize the similarities in the two religions. It IS the same god after all.

I still marvel at the attempts at negotiation. You cannot negotiate with someone who believes you have no right to exist. When will the world wake up to that fact?

Philistia was also between Israel/Judah and the sea, and attacked and blamed for all the aggression, because they resisted being run out of their lands. (actually about where Gaza is today)

Actually, name an “Old Testament” king who was NOT a homicidal sociopath, with “God” on his side. The New Testament doesn’t really get much better, as applied by most of the 30,000+ sects of “Christianity”. The Society of Friends, has the right idea, and is often condemned by their “brethren” for being anti-war, and well, “pacifist”.

Oddly Buddhism is considered either “not a religion”, or “pagan”, by the same folks constantly waging war on each other in the name of their deity.

Too bad the world can’t have a day of thanksgiving that there is no war, anywhere, and all swords of aggression (commonly called “preemptive defense”) HAVE been converted to plowshares.

^^ Rottiluv: Just a note: Donald REGAN was Chief of Staff, Ronald REAGAN was elected the “acting President”.

Thomas Jefferson felt the exact same way. I have yet to read his rewrite of the bible, but I look forward to doing so. He allegedly avoids the dogma whlle holding to the themes of social justice and honor. I hope one of us gets around to reading it one day. I have to say that I do not totally trust the bible,. I feel Robin Williams was quite intuitive when he said, “The King James Bible- If it was good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for me.”.I do what you do, Dr. I trust my gut. I just get a different message from the one you seem to have recieved. Maybe it was just gas tho?Happy Thanksgiving, Dr. I don’t think it is a Canadian holiday, but it is a good one.C.

“The initial Palestinian attacks did not kill anyone – but the retaliations (to those attacks) did? Or are Palestinian lives the only ones that count to you? So stop the whining about the poor Gazans, whose leaders hid behind civilians. The facts are plain – which “side” has always fired the first shot? Which side wants to obliterate the other? An honest answer wouldn’t hurt, but it probably would not change your bias and bigotry.”Did you misread my post or are you to blinded by your own bigotry? Much like a parent fed up with sibling bickering, I just don’t care who “started it.” It’s up to both sides to end it. Militants on both sides are killing innocent civilians. No matter who the who the leaders are, what they believe, or what side they’re on, it doesn’t change the fact that innocent people are dying. No matter who started it, both sides have the blood of civilians on their hands. The US should boycott both sides until both sides make an effort real peace.

Our Canadian TG is in October, due to a much shorter growing season here, thus an earlier harvest; leading to an earlier harvest festival :)
