Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

I’d read Calvin’s if he wrote one.

And the delivery man should lower his standards for what passes for a woman.

This is pretty risque for a newspaper comic.

By “lowering standards” Trout must understand that the “ideal man” is a figment, no such creature.

Acually, no.
.
One woman’s ideal might not seem like much to you or to me but for her it might just be a man who doesn’t beat her.

Agnes has her Gramma. Trout has her mom and many ‘uncles’. Life may be boring in Gramma’s trailer, but at least you can trust what walks through the door.

Trout’s mom must be named Shark; a real maneater.

@DavidHuieGreen
And a man’s ideal woman might be one that doesn’t hit or verbally abuse him.
Which is more prevalent than the other way around.

@DavidHuieGreen
I wasn’t speaking of that but then I expect that men should never abuse their spouses. I also know it is all too prevalent today.

One of my wife’s students once said “Mr Green sure is nice.”
Patsy agreed I am.
The child looked thoughtful and followed up,
“I bet he don’t even beat you!”
.
Another time one of them looked at our chiildren and said,
“They sure do look alike. I bet they got the same daddy!”
.
Expected by most of us us, foreign concepts to them.
