Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

Thus, Agnes could never be a failure since she’s got herself a plan, even if the plan is only to ditch the old plan of which we have never heard — unless it was to become a phonics expert, of course.

I’m not sure Agnes is capable of carrying out plans.

The landscape is littered with plans of Agnes’ that have died horrible deaths. Hang in there though. One of these days one will work. She plays the two-string banjo well.
