We’re told California is the world’s fifth largest economy, and this is as much as its government can do for their citizens victimized by wild fires? Maybe instead of calling it the Golden State we should call it the Gilded State after the US’s new Gilded Age.
C’mon, stop whining! Since when does the government collect taxes to help the poor and dispossessed? Get with the program! Maybe more people should vote and be active. Nah, there’s a new tv series starting tonight.
There is a very high probability that the US will pull out of Afghanistan at some point in the future. There is a low probability of something being accomplished. When this happens, it will be the latest in a repeating cycle of long history in Afghanistan. This history includes the USSR incursion into Afghanistan for much of the ‘80’s. Note that it only took 10 years for the Russians to come to grips with the reality of conquest of Afghanistan. We have a somewhat similar situation in Iraq that is still paying us dividends.
There are empty houses and apts in every state. People from around the world buy US real estate because its considered a safe investment. Its a good way to wash money too, just ask crooked liar Trump about selling apts to Russian mobsters and oligarchs.
Ayn Randian conservatives, of whom there are far too many, figure that the fire-displaced folks should perfectly capable of dealing with their own problems. If they fail to cope, it’s their own fault and they should suffer. Empathy isn’t something they even admit to, much less value.
Those who embrace the dark side of America like genocide, empire, violence, war, worship of “race” etc want to be able to do that. But anyone who needs shelter to them are considered weak and should work or die.

On my planet, no one goes homeless or hungry except by choice. (We don’t legislate anorexia) We have our priorities in order.

But Ted helping individuals is $&#~@ Socialism! We can’t have that now can we? The only real citizens are corporate citizens.

Somehow the deep blue state government of California is being prevented from helping its own citizens; think about it.

Truly great work Ted. I like that you offer both a problem and a solution.
