If they’re flying in business or first class and not coach, it’s not such a bad way to travel. The Aces complaining about not having enough time to rest for a Tuesday night road game after landing midday Monday is pretty whiny, frankly. Thank God they don’t play baseball…they’d never make it to May.
MLB players flew commercial at least into the 80s, when i saw the Reds on a cross country flight (saw others in the 70s). And MLB teams had a much better profit margin back then.
The issue should be their height with modern plane seating, not the fact they have to fly commercial.
It seems to me that there are a lot more tall women than there used to be… certainly there weren’t any girls taller than me (6’ 1") when I was in school. It doesn’t seem all that unusual anymore, and I’m not necessarily talking about athletes. It seems like I cross paths with a woman as tall or taller than me at least once a week, and they’re all on the younger side (like their 20’s or early 30’s). My mother (born 1920) was 5’ 10", which was very unusual for her age (she was not happy about it, but she felt very fortunate that my father was a bit taller). Anyone have the same observation, or do I just have selective memory?
For the first 80-100 years of men’s professional sports all the players had to have 2nd jobs in the off season. In the Twenty-five years of existence the WNBA has not made money. It has turned an average $10 million net loss (revenue – costs) per year, since its inception in 1996. Maybe just turning a profit should be a higher priority.
