We have been watching a lot of Japanese films (animation) and I was curious about the bathing room layout. I realized the Japanese “bath” is more like a hot tub. (bath tub is taller with a lid) The water in tub used only for soaking (the washing and rinsing happen before getting in tub) and water can be heated (kept warm) way less water use. The bath room is tiled like shower with drain. (toilet is separate room)
