What missteps? Please be specific. Obama’s foreign policy has seemed admirable to everyone but his domestic enemies, and they simply make up “apology tour” lies rather than explain what he’s done wrong.
GHW said Kuwait was an “Arab on Arab thing”, and told Saddam to go ahead and invade. Then, when Kurds asked for air support, we provided it, and they’re autonomous, pretty much. When Shia in the south asked for our air support, just to take out Saddam’s armed helicopters, we said “no”, and thousands died, leaving them with a “sour taste” in their mouths, and now that MAJORITY has finally take power in Iraq, and they still don’t have any great fondness for us, and are CLOSER to the Shia in Iran, than they would have been when we rejected their pleas in ’91.
btw, my comments are based on information from news sources around the world, write-ups by folks in the military, U.N., NGOs, left AND right “positions” to compare their “view”, and listening to, or talking to, people who have personal experiences from around the world.
I occasionally listen to Limbaugh, and Fox, just to find out how WRONG, and typically stupid (not just “ignorant”), their “reporting” and “views” are. This is just an effort to understand where the weird “cat litter box” information the extreme right on these pages comes from. It’s also interesting that those claiming they never listen to Limbaugh, are constantly using his points exactly, or paraphrasing his commentary, in an effort to appear aloof from his influence.
I used to think the word “propaganda” was synonymous with lie. Discovering the word represented information which could be true or false confused me for a long time. This piece of propaganda obviously appeals to the conservative base and offends the liberal base. The truth, as is often the case, lies in a too often ignored valley between the extremes. To properly explain why the Muslim world has so many wanting to do harm to the American system of government would take longer, and be as futile, as explaining to members of my wife’s church why the universe is older than 7000 years. Ironically, the age of the universe is agreed upon by hardline Christians and Muslims alike. Al Qaida wishes they could chase Americans as depicted in this cartoon. Obama’s critics wish Al Qaida could catch him while they wolf down popcorn and cheer.I wish our nation could show the unity and will to be the “Shining City on the Hill” Reagan saw. If we showed the Muslim world a Democracy at work with a Unified people working together to make it great, we would have greater impact world wide than all of our armaments together.RespectfullyC.
So Foxes “We Report, You Decide” isn’t a focused group slogan? Based on actual NEWS events, it’s "We Report (what we want), You Decide (based on our reporting.) At least Schultz, Maddow, et.al. have the guts to call out the Democrats on their failings! Fox either doesn’t report, or spins Republican problems as caused by “the liberal media”, for instance Todd Akin. And for Benghazi/Libya/Syria the Republicans are against whatever Obama tries, and are for what he doesn’t do. They said don’t go in to Libya, but go into Syria NOW! They still want there “New American Century”.
The myopia and Monday morning quarterbacking in some of these posts are astounding. I wonder what would have happened during WW2 if, when the war wasn’t going so good, possibly a battle had been lost, if the folks back home sipping their tea and reading the newspaper, had demanded that Churchill be replaced with someone who can give them good headlines. I guess the people back then were made of sterner stuff. They knew the war is not won or lost on a single battle; that you show some character and hang in for the long run, not look for the instant gratification.
What is even more astounding is that Obama’s approach is working as about as good as can be reasonably expected in a violent and complex part of the world, made all the more so with eight years of Bush’s follies. And it has to be remembered that they are going to do what they want to do, not what America would like them to do. Its one of the downsides of a sort of democracy.

Biggest misstep was GHW Bush’s, in 1991, and he made several, and we’re still paying for them.

Al-Qaeda leaders seem to have a short life expectancy.

What? Not enough wars going on for you? Obama has had a good foreign policy. Unlike Bush who attacked Iraq who HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11!
