Well, the Pastor admitted he was wrong, Obama has admitted he’s been wrong on the economy all along. To quote Fred Brown, “True genius is knowing your failings.”

So, wait, since Congress never declared this war, we don’t actually need Congress for anything, really, if you think about it. Think how much money we could save not paying their pensions!

Jones (and Phelps) could serve one useful purpose..they demonstrate to the majoirty of Christians that their own religion is not free of misguided individuals. The majority finds their behavior reprehensible, as most Muslims were shocked and saddened by 9/11.

The last declared war was over in 1945. Congress has been flubbing the dub since.

There is a city law against having bonfires without a permit. So the fire marshall in his town could arrest him if he starts burning anything – Qurans included – without a permit.

Obama has not been as aggressive about claiming war powers as GW Bush, though he’s hardly been pure on this. According to Bush & Cheney, any president has the right to throw any American citizen in prison, without evidence or trial, without the need to give any reason. Bush did this to the so-called “dirty bomber” (who, not surprisingly, turned out to be totally innocent). Bush faced no consequences. So under that philosophy, there’s no reason Mr Jones couldn’t be thrown in jail with no charges.

To his credit, the old John McCain joined the ACLU in opposing this, which shows that not all Republicans want a hereditary dictatorship in America. What the new John McCain thinks, of course, is anyone’s guess. And all that really matters is what our conservative supreme court thinks.
