    I was explaining that people in the 1700s ate root vegetables during the winter months, and the kid asked me what those were.

    “What foods grow underground?”

    They had no idea, but they were certain they would never eat any thing that grew in dirt. These were country kids, not children who grew up in the city. We had quite a discussion. I’m not sure all of them believed me.

    We have a Whole Foods near us, its one they took over when they bought Wild Oats. The store is small. I call it the Half Foods.

    We have a new donut shop in the small town where I live . Name: Hole Foods. Pretty good pastries, but expensive.
