So, the Russians are mucking about in the campaigns? B.F.D! So are the Brits, the French, the Germans, the Spanish, the Italians, ISIS, Israel, OPEC, George Soros, Green Peace, the Serria Club, Hansjörg Wyss, the Koch Brothers, the International Sisterhood of Buggy Whip Braiders, and a whole bunch of other folks. Every one who has some interest in US policy, trade regulations, market conditions, etc., takes a shot at trying to have some influence in our elections. Mostly they funnel funds to one PAC or another through some squeaky clean middle man along with some suggestions as to what their target should be. Been going on for years and there are a bunch of “special interest” groups that would go belly up were it not for those funds.
We do the same thing. Anyone remember the $400K Obama’s people sent to Israel?
After the elections, the money goes to the lobbyists who make reelection campaign contributions with quiet suggestions as to what to support. As long as the lobbyist registers as a “foreign agent” the public seldom hears about it.
Thanks to Face Book, Twitter, SnapChat, and the blogs, all those “foreign interests” have a much easier time diddling with the campaigns. May spell hard times for the PACs.
