Three of Trump’s people have pleaded guilty to charges brought against them by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III and his team, along with a businessman who sold American bank account numbers to Russians.
Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, campaign staffer Rick Gates, campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, and Richard Pinedo, who sold bank accounts to Russians involved in the interference effort.
And then there’s Michael Flynn, Trump’s campaign aide and National Security Adviser. Both Papadopoulos and Flynn have agreed to work with Mueller’s team in its investigation.
Most notably, there’s that meeting at Trump Tower between Donald Trump Jr., Kushner, Manafort, and the Kremlin attorney and the Russian lobbyist, about the promise of incriminating information about the Democratic presidential nominee delivered by the Russian government.
“I love it,” Trump Jr. said when it was offered. Manafort has denied knowing what the meeting was about — despite taking careful notes – which have been turned over to Justice Dept. and Senate.
Kushner even set up a private internet server at Trump tower to communicate directly with Russia. Trump, Trump Jr., Kushner, and Manafort initially lied about the meeting, saying that it was about adopting Russian orphans.
