The idea was never for the feds to create the projects – the idea was to fund the projects the states had that needed doing. We’ve still got a lot of bridges that need fixing, but we found block grants to the states (the Republican preferred approach for everything) don’t necessarily go where they should.

Oh dear Tigger. The shovel ready jobs were shovel ready then, just waiting for funding. YOUR republicans said NO, NO, NO, NO at every step. Those shovel ready jobs evaporated under the republican nay saying.-—-

Aren’t you proud of the way the republicans and tea party can block progress and jobs for Americans?

There is work to be done — the problem isn’t the lack of work, the problem is the lack of jobs — that is, employers need to be willing to spend money to hire people to do the work. When private sector employers are sitting on their rear ends, then it’s appropriate for the government to step in temporarily to get things going.

A transportation bill would help, but the Republicans can’t do it. They weren’t elected to govern, they were elected to break everything. Now that our credit rating is down, our bridges can’t be fixed, and Americans are out of work, how about an actual PLAN for a change, not just breaking things? Tax cuts for the rich are the only idea they’ve got, and they’ve been in place for twelve years with no noticeable results other than the deficit.

When I look at Mitt I see an empty suit. I see vast amounts of money from a few billionaires to get him elected. He has no more empathy for the middle class than an elephant has for an ant he just stepped on. Who will call the shots if he gets elected? It will be the billionaires who want those tax cuts. His plan calls for cutting an average of $350,000 on the rich while raising middle income tax $4500. Some plan!

A ‘self made man from the private sector’???He made his first million from the tooth fairy.

Mitt’s idea of job creation is to hire a chauffeur for each of Ann’s Caddies.

We were loosing 750.000 jobs a MONTH when he took over from a Republicant incompetent.

I used to think that Romney might be on the high end of the autism spectrum scale, given his social awkwardness, propensity for classics such as the “trees being the right height”, etc. then I thought he might actually be a sociopath given his cruelty towards animals and people while sporting the “charming” used-car-salesman grin. However, this cartoon seems to be making the case for Multiple Personality Disorder. Wifey Ann must have OCD, given her involvement with that fussy endeavor known as “dressage”.

Shovel Ready Jobs?

How about one example: Here in Kansas, the state government used money from the Bush/Obama stimulus package to rebuild Kansas State Hwy 61. It is nearly completed 3.5 years later. Those were shovel ready jobs.

I suggest you need to look around, Those jobs were everywhere.
