School supplies, backpacks, etc. are expensive enough but when the cost of kids’ clothing is out of sight. We help with the cost of the 4 grandchildren’s tuition and school necessities so I am aware of the costs. Gratefully, especially all but one is in high school, we live in a country where kids are required to wear school uniforms at all levels of education until university. Each school has different uniforms but it is so nice to see all the kids neatly dressed for school.

For families struggling to keep food on the table, let alone keep their kids in school. the government subsidizes the school uniforms and supplies and the education is free. For families sending their kids to specialized schools – private academies or parochial schools – the tuition per student averages about $40-$60 per student per semester. Uniform costs are surprisingly inexpensive – as are shoes ( but we ain’t talkin’ Nike or Adidas – we don’t even want to think about those types of shoes!! )

Wow, according to these prices, one kid is enough to bankrupt the average household!

The essentials are just that. Essentials. But some of the items are just ridiculous. The clothing you can get for 25% of the price. Apple watch? For a kid? If you can afford that quit your whining. Sneakers? $25 bucks, max.
