I get the gag, of course…but you still shouldn’t leave animals in cars

That’s not true. There are times when it’s a bad idea of course. But if it’s not hot or unhealthy for the animal, what’s the beef? My dog treats my truck like it’s his doghouse. Truly, it’s his truck as far as he’s concerned. People have accidentally killed kids by leaving them in hot cars. Should we then bar children from automobiles too?…..It’s not the cars that kill dogs, but rather irresponsible owners.

But isn’t it against the law to leave animals in the car and she didn’t even have the windows down. It’s August outside ma’am, please roll down your windows.

I think that this was not an appropriate comic scenario to publish due to the ignorance of the public to the dangers of leaving unattended kids and pets locked up in a car. Too many people think it is okay to leave a pet alone in a locked car, whether the window is down or not, and water is present, it can still reach deadly high temperatures, even if the temperature outside is reasonable due to the sun and the glass windows elevating the heat. What if something happens to the owner that they cannot get back to the car timely? The pet is suffering and no one may even notice. This comic is widely read and now sending the message that it is cute and funny to leave a pet unattended in a vehicle in August. Just because a day starts off “nice and cool” doesn’t mean it can’t change quickly, especially inside the car in certain parts of the country which this comic is also published in.

Seeing some of these comments, I have to wonder how some of the bodies are surviving without functioning brains.

ABOVE ALL, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PETS OR CHILDREN IN THE CAR UNATTENDED!!!

WHAT will it take for people to understand this simple tenet??

My dogs have always loved being in the car. But I only allow it during mild weather, not too hot, not too cold. No leash on to get caught and with a non-tippy water dish. Never for very long without a walk/visit. One of them ate the front seat due to another dropping a bit of cookie, lucky it was an old car about to be replaced.

This is dated 2017, so probably isn’t a vacation repeat. It would have been drawn nearly two weeks ago. Just where is it nice and cool enough to leave a pet in the car at the end of July or beginning of August? I love Jump Start, but this cartoon was a mistake, and Mr Armstrong should have given it more thought. Maybe they’ve moves to the land of Klondike Ike?BTW, I liked Marcie’s new “do” and wish she hadn’t gone back to the plain-jane look.

hi everybody! Robb, please take a moment to make some sort of comment that “you should never do this”, when it comes to leaving a dog in a parked car! Love the strip, love you guys! But there are those folks who will think it’s fine and we’ll have a bunch of dead dogs.
