This is all fine but they aren’t doing anything new or radical. The rocket technology is the same as it was in the 1960’s. I know they like to say they’re paving the way for people to travel in space but which people? Only the truly wealthy will be able to afford it. A trip to Mars at this point is a one way trip since it would take about 7 months each way and they can’t carry enough fuel to take off again once they get there. Anywhere outside our solar system is impossible without a major breakthrough in propulsion.
We would need to improve our top speed by about 25,000 times to reach the speed of light. At that speed it would still take 4 years to reach the closest star and we don’t know if there are any planets there that could support life.
