Given that Sweden and Finland have traditionally been neutral nations, this is a big step for them. They have previously had a military treaty with each other and Norway, which is itself a NATO member and supports Finnish and Swedish membership.
Another example of Putin’s failure to see the big picture. He wanted to keep Ukraine out of NATO so badly that he encouraged its expansion. And he cannot afford to move troops to the Finnish and Swedish borders to do sword-waving. Trying to defeat NATO has made it potentially stronger.
A coup to replace Putin seems a very logical forthcoming event. The Russian people have not in recent years been all that docile. Maybe sensibly frightened and cautious but…..
Some hope for Putin’s death. but I’m a little more vengeful. I hope for a stroke that leaves him sufficiently incapacitated that he cannot main office, and is shunted off to obscurity and depression. Aware that he has been struck down, and having to live with that.
Aside from the deaths, wounds and damage inflicted by the fighting, Putin’s war has caused much economic hardship, and threatens the ability to feed significant numbers of people far from the battleground. And for rattling a nuclear saber. For these things, I want him to suffer physically and emotionally.

And Tsar Vlad thinks that threats and reprisals are going to keep them away? Not now.

RasPutin will be his own worst enemy and his billionaire friends will take only so much before they take matters into their own hands to end this war.
