In the 1950s TV repairmen were notorious for overcharging. I’m sure we got ripped off more than once. I learned to use a tube tester at the supermarket.

I remember the name of our TV repairman (since he was at our house often). His name was Jerry. Of course, when you are 5, you make associations. Jerry. TV. —-I told my friends that Jerry Lewis fixed my TV set!

And now, you just go out and buy a new TV, and our Doctor wouldn’t even let my husband go to the office BECAUSE HE WAS SICK!
