Jason: Where are you going? Peter: Out of the driveway to shoot some hoops. I figure with Micahel Jordan now retired, the NBA's going to be in dire need of a new superstar to fill the void. Hey, with enough practice, it could be me! Jason: You're looking at a fair amount of work. Peter: No duh. Fortunately, I have a real passion for the game. Jason: I meant shoveling last night's snow off the driveway first. Peter: Eh. Forget it, then.
I lost what little interest I had in the NBA when one of the commentators said something along the lines of “_____ will have to be a bigger star before he gets that call.” Without showing any indication of being appalled, the commentators essentially said that it’s SOP in the NBA for the game to be called differently for the superstars than for the “average” players. Between that and ignoring things like traveling, etc., the game’s only a small step above pro wrestling.
