And now Connie is blonde again. The best part is how Elly is limiting her holiday spending because of her loss of a job. John already told her that she could still get all the new furniture she wanted regardless of job loss which I think is a pretty good indication that they are not hurting for money, but for some reason she is maintaining her idea of being short on money.

Elly could get a job in a department store just for the holidays and get laid off in January. She’d make some extra money to buy gifts but working retail is so hard on the psyche. Customers can be real jerks.

From Lynn’s Comments: In a way, Elly’s dilemma about not having gone to university was my mother’s story. She always regretted not having had a university education, and by the time we were older and she had the time to do so, she thought it was too late.

She must’ve shoveled way too much money over to Michael’s junk food fund.

If she can afford it, doing something new and stimulating for the brain might be just what she needs.

When I started at the University of Florida fees and tuition was $90 per semester for all the courses you could take…6 courses for 18 hrs was standard. Now it is well over $200/hr.

And John can’t raise his fees… Canada as a National Healthcare System, including set payments to providers.

My lifeline at my last job was my retirement date. It was the only thing that kept me sane in a sea of madness! The words of hope: “Survival is at hand!” was my mantra. At the jail I worked at, all employees including clerical staff (that would be me) were given Covid tests with long swabs that would reach the inner sinuses every other week! I shouldn’t have been forced to work there because I was over 65 and had high blood pressure but I would’ve been forced to take a pay cut. I couldn’t even use my sick hours that I had accumulated over the years and amounted to three months. I was truly happy to leave with no regrets. The same held true for the Navy but for different reasons.

I’m right there with you, El! NYC Tech? Here I come! That, or St. Joseph’s College. I flip-flop on the public/private school thing.

With her hood pushed back like that, won’t she end up with a “pocketful” of snow?

“Careful with their spending,” does that include all the extra money they’ve been sending Mike?

Great idea, if you haven’t found a way to MAKE money, find a way to SPEND the money you don’t have.
