314000000 million people are represented by two political parties. The platforms are completely meaningless. American politics has come down to a basic economic fight. That is do the people who benefit the most from the system pay the same percentage of taxes than those who do not?
I realize facts get in the way of your arguments, but St. Raegan has quite the record of raising taxes, raising the debt ceiling and increasing the national debt. Check it out.http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=reagan%20debt%20ceiling&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CCIQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.politifact.com%2Ftruth-o-meter%2Fstatements%2F2011%2Fjul%2F26%2Fbarack-obama%2Fobama-says-reagan-raised-debt-ceiling-18-times-geo%2F&ei=fKFMUOPfL5K-2AWUzICwCA&usg=AFQjCNG29hOREwd2jnsUXt6Y5oo4qTxsQw
There’s a lot of silly name calling and attempts to misdirect the conversation by the usual right wing trolls this morning. I think the Republicans have lost some ground after Bill Clinton so clearly laid out the options for the future of this country in his convention speech. There’s a clear choice: do you want a country where it’s every man/woman/child for itself, winner take all and the hell with the losers, or do you want a country where we work together, sharing the risks and opportunities, where the “winners” profit from their labors but stay involved to make sure others get the same opportunities for success that they had and paying their fair share of the burden. If you are honest with yourself (and I know Ima and Tigger and Narrowminded and others are NOT cable of that) the choice is obvious.
Speaking as a Missourian, I had contempt for Todd Akin’s imbecility long before his “legitimate rape” comments. Speaking as an American, a short list of big-name Republicans who formerly were or currently are pro-choice (whereas I’m pro-life myself): Mitt Romney, George H.W. Bush, Barbara Bush, Rudy, Arnold, Condi……and so forth.
‘Todd Akin was planning on showing up until we at the GOP threatened to kill him, and he got the message’-Neo, which convention was he planning to attend?
The Greens left theology to the individual and kept the government out of it – like the First Amendment says. Vote for Jill Stein – the corporate media is prohibited from mentioning that party (and a few others) lest the citizenry discover there are some who do not believe in bombing wedding parties and letting torturers off free.
…and I am tired of hearing you trying to push your Atheist Viewpoint down everyone else’s throat. We are all individuals, not one mindless brain, and everyone has their own Viewpoint of the Divine..I pity you; without my own faith, where would I be? Probably DEAD, and somewhere where I could probably have a better Life. But it is because of that Faith I have that I am here, alive, and able to either help or educate others to live peacefully with their fellow man. Do I push my faith down their throats? No, I don’t, unless the other person asks about it. So why can’t you do the same thing?
The platforms for both parties are general statements about where the respective parties stand. The DNC looked silly and may have done more harm than many are willing to accept.
Pols always wrap themselves in God and the flag, but the flag is a bit short on platform material, so they drag in israel, jerusalem, and whatever else they think will appeal to some.

They must mean something if the Dums had to remove any mention of God or Jerusalem.

The Rep platform? Just look at the past 30 years of failed supply-side economics and extend them.

Of course the recession was brought on by Obama. The Republicans knew he was coming and so they prepared one just for him.
