Thanx, Hobbes, for hammering home the point that even Linus knows it takes at least a good pair of pliers to wrench off a wheel (or three),

i put a fear into my mother once.when i was 15, she came home to a parlor filled w/ piano parts from my grandmother’s piano. all she said to me, was “i hope you have that back together before your grandmother gets home”..well it was all back together when gram returned..and the action didn’t stick anymore..go Calvin!!!

My brother, when he was 5, made the amazing discovery that if you stick a screwdriver in a wall outlet, you can turn the lights off in the entire house…

As a 4 year old, I removed all the doorknobs in the house with a screwdriver. This did eventually lead to an engineering degree.

read a prank in a book. some guys loosened(not removed) all the screws in a classroom. so, with a slightest touch, the item would fall apart(desk, chairs, shelving, etc..) wonder if anyone else did that. i did hear about people putting furniture and stuff on the ceiling, so that the ceiling is the floor and the floor is the ceiling.

Hammers are better. yYou can take a LOT of things apart with a hammer. It’s harder to put them back together, though.

What the strip says to me is that Calvin is basically a truth teller, a sharer of experiences, an adventurer who disdains the consequences. Couple that attitude with naivete and an inability to recognize what does not belong strictly to him, and you have either the next industrial genius or 10-20 hard labor. It might be why he manifests Hobbes as a conscience albeit one who gets tired of not having anything to guilt Calvin about so offers up temptation more than occasionally.

most shelving units, this laptop I’m using, most toys that use hard plastic (which was almost all of them when this comic was made,) actually a lot of things are held together with screws unless parts are nailed or welded into place.

When my younger brother was two and a half, he got hold of a screwdriver. He took every screw out of the book shelf. Mom went to grab one book, and it all fell apart!
