Aunt Fritzi is looking good.

Sluggo, did you see “9 to 5?” That’s a movie about work. It’s a cool movie. You were around in 1981, Sluggo. You’ve been around since I was a kid in the ’50s.

The original Fritzi Ritz strip started in 1922. This puts Fritzi very close to (if not over) supercentenarian status.

Having Fritzi there establishes that she’s there at the beach with the kids, a responsible adult who doesn’t let Nancy go off on her own, unsupervised. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

I’ll explain this to you because my mom also struggles with ascertaining humor, and there might be other people like her: Sluggo saw Jaws, and now avoids sharks. Sluggo avoids work. Therefore, Nancy surmises that Sluggo saw a movie about work that makes him avoid work. | Hmm, all of a sudden I have an urge to watch Shark Week.

Nice to see things never change here at the comments section ! Thanks everyone for reading the strip. Susan, I don’t do “eye candy” for women because there isn’t such a character in this strip. Maybe sometime in the future I may bring back Fritzi’s ol’ beau, Phil Fumble…but you won’t mistake him for Tarzan. As far as" Pandering..". the strip was created with a beautiful “pin up” type cartoon gal by Larry Whittington, and then kept at it by Ernie…I’ve changed her style to be more of a 50s, 60s pin up…as per my style….but she has always been pretty…and as long as I’m in charge…she always will be! Oh…and NANCY will always be the Star. That’s how Ernie planned it, and the way I’ve carried on since 1996.
