First two panels, tree is scared to death. Relaxes in third.
At first I thought Horace had used the saw between panels 2 and 3 to “shape” the tree that way; Wynot’s explanation makes more sense, and is a lot funnier.
Yeah, I didn’t get it either.
He took the parts off the garage to make the chair, sparing the tree. Which was relieved, and relaxed?
At least, that’s my story and I’m sticking with it—unless someone has a better one.

OK, looks like the tree needs to let out a sigh of relief or something to make this one work better… :-)
I thought the tree in the last panel looked sort of like a palm tree and Horace is imagining himself on a beach somewhere…
