At least in our weddings the line is: “If any of you can show just cause why they may not lawfully be married, speak now; or else for ever hold your peace.” The operative word is “legally.” That stops the 13-year-olds and the already-married….
I saw something similar once. Most memorable wedding I’ve ever seen. Thirty years later and we all still snicker about it -except for the two who tied that gordian knot. Come to think of it, they untied that knot the same way……
