It’s ironic that the puffer fish (or Fugu in Japanese) is deadly poison, and yet it is considered a delicacy for sashimi when properly prepared. When you look at a puffer head-on, it appears to be gently smiling. Perhaps at the secret it carries? I’d call that a “cheerful reaper.”

There’s a non-occult card game in France played with 2 tarot decks. It’s kind of like contract bridge but with picture cards. It’s called, not surprisingly, Tarot, and they have tournaments etc like standard bridge and pinochle do.

If the Reaper goes to Florida wearing a hoodie, beware!

“Maybe Reapers are just goofy looking.” Satchel fears no reaper, but he would be polite just to be safe.

BTW, this is a case of Satchel being in rare form. actually, I’m kinda worried about Buck, he looks sad in panel one, and we don’t see him after he hears about the death card….

I follow Blue Öyster Cult’s advice when it comes to the Reaper. Or Commander Shepard’s…

In Central European folklore, the Grim Reaper is a woman.

You know, I seem to recall that in Tarot, Death doesn’t actually represent Death, but change.

Oh Satchel, you are so wise not to take this tarot stuff seriously. In the first panel though, you look so concerned for Bucky.

Thanks, RR. I was just wondering what that card was called in English. In French for some reason it’s called “Maison Dieu”—the House of God—which can also mean a charity hospital for terminal cases, so you can see why I found it confusing.

    Ha—Satchel just makes me smile.

Part of me wishes he could get his own strip, but then “G.F.” would never be the same.
