However, those weapons raise the stakes to the point that things could get out of hand and we’d annihilate ourselves.Ever see the end of the movie “Wargames”? Alexander, Genghis Khan, Britain, France: isn’t it time we paid attention to how many INVADERS have had their butts kicked in the region, western and southern Asia actually, and stopped trying to claim they’re the ones “fighting amongst themselves”??? When the Ottoman Turks ran the show, it might actually have been the most peaceful time in the region. Maybe European powers and the United States have been the problem, NOT the solution?
BTW, they held elections in Iran yesterday. Anyone think that THEIR “politics” might have been behind the bluster as much as on our side of the pond, where leaders have to appear “strong”???(But we have to suspend our observations of “stupid”.)
It seems to me that whatever the religion, whatever the country, the average family just wants to have a job, get a pay check and take care of the family. When I see a report of even one more person killed, rather in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Somalia or down town USA – - I see a family who is without a member – - I see a family in mourning.
IMO the cartoon subject is today’s Islamic Global Jihad started by the Iranians in 1979 and the rhetoric fanned daily by leaders in Iran and elsewhere and in the Arab Media constantly…..and shown to widely supported by Muslim populations in Arab polls. When 9/11/01 Jihad attack inside the USA was being shown on TV, Muslims were filmed in many cities dancing in the streets. HATE is part of their native language. Israel and the USA did not start a war….we are responding to attacks and deaths from Muslim Terrorists in what Mosque clergy declare is an unending war to re-establish the lost Caliphate…..the Ottoman Empire, which was gained with bloody swords….that is History.
As a proud atheist, I blame all three of the Abrahamic religions for a large percentage of the world’s wars throughout history. Jews, Christians and Muslims have been citing their religions to justify killing each other and everybody else for thousands of years. Wish we could ghettoize the lot of them on some far-off planet.
