My feral cats are glad to get store brand dry. I gave them a copperhead snake across the bowl. They ate all but the head. Now they got a taste maybe they will get their own.They don’t want rabbits . Maybe if they got a taste. The fellow where I got my house said his cats killed copperheads and left them on the steps as presents for him.
There’s a small feral cat that lives near the waste treatment plant I work at. I’ve named her Ecoli and put her in charge of pest control. Haven’t had to feed her once.
My older cat is on a special diet, which she’s not thrilled about, but she eats, except when she thinks it’s been out too long (dry food out a few hours), at which point, she’ll look at the food and then look at me with an “I can’t eat this.” look. I also have to buy her food in 4 lb bags because if I get the 8 lbs, it apparently (judging by her attitude) get stale.

No copperheads out west but I have had cats bring home rattlesnake corpses.
