You must live in the United States of Arrogance. $36,000 puts you in the poverty line, not the 1% (median income in the United States is $49,445). Social mobility in the United States has become increasingly difficult (there are people with 4 year degrees working at F.Y.E. for example) so there is no job hopping from Job A janitor to Job D C.E.O. If the gubbermint doesn’t fund education (pell grants) then how are you gonna go to school? Save up on a $36,000 salary taxed at 35%? And what’s with the pregnancy comment? If the gubbermint doesn’t teach sex education how do you prevent a bunch of teenagers from engaging in sexual activites (while mom and dad are at work) which leads to a child?

60 years ago a simple job like mine would be enough to support a family, own a home, and be comfortable. Nowdays people like me need 2 jobs just to get by, no extra for a house or family. Maybe if employers would pay a living wage, people would not have to work 2 jobs, thus many more job openings for the unemployed.

Doh those were my two jobs Eryx!

No that’s not my solution. My solution would be that corporations would have a heart, and not downsize payroll, employees, send jobs overseas, because of greed. To realize that they wouldn’t be in the position they are in with out all those ‘little people’ to stand on. It has nothing to do with the minimum wage. Both my jobs pay a good deal above minimum. I work 60+ hours a week, yet I can barely afford a simple 1 bedroom apartment? Is that America to you Harley?

Let us know when you make it to the 1%…

…and, that is because of “progressive” policies. That is because we have a completely screwed up monetary system with the Federal Reserve. We’ve destroyed the economic cycle with the Fed, and that has contributed greatly to what you are complaining about.

NOTHING you constantly complain about regarding inequality will be fixed by taxing the “rich” until the are taxed out of existence. The inevitable result of your policies is where there will be an elite class, and the serfs. Your way of handling society is neo-feudalism.

Another thing that I find baffling about people who are supposedly “concerned” about the way things are is that it is based totally upon partisan side-taking. When Bush 2 was guilty of something, he was the Devil, but when Obama does the EXACT SAME THING, he’s God’s gift to mankind. When are you going to figure out that parties are irrelivent to the argument. If a president is bad for doing something that is undesputably WRONG, then it’s bad when a president of the OTHER party does it.

If you could ever figure out this irrefutable truth, you’d find that it doesn’t matter whether it’s one party or the other, because they are BOTH destroying us.

And I know a guy who is a janitor and is STILL a janitor. What’s your point? How many C.E.O. Positions can you find in the classifieds? And why do you guys always compare our standard of living to dirt poor countries? Oh that’s right. If we were to compare apples to apples we’d come to find out that there are poor people in this country. Can’t do that so let’s compare America’s poor with Somalia’s poor! HEY! We’re better off now!

We were the greatest nation in the world. We are losing out to everyone else (we’re the world’s biggest debtor).

As for the fair tax….

Ah, the Fair Tax.

Spend your money on clothes, or a new car, and you are taxed. Spend your money on second-hand goods, and you are not taxed: second-hand goods like Rembrandts, real estate (all real estate is second-hand), antique furniture, classic automobiles, or rare coins, and voila, no tax. No tax if you spend your money on long trips to Bermuda or the Bahamas, the Riviera, or anywhere outside the United States. The ‘fair tax’ would be perfect for people who make their money in the US and live mostly elsewhere. All the benefits of US citizenship, and none of the pesky burdens.

I understand the ‘fair tax’ is only to be applied at the retail level. Perhaps you can also avoid it if you can buy wholesale.

Oh, if you have lots of the money the ‘fair tax’ is certain ‘fair’ – ‘fair’ as in ‘beautiful’.

Just to be fair I’ll put the legislation here and you can spend your time telling us how much everything I wrote is all B.S. based on the bill’s wording.
