What is wrong with upholding a sane culture? IT is eroding to the point where anything and everything is permissible. Marriage is a sacred institution, regardless of what people make of it afterwards. There isn’t a SINGLE religion on earth that endorses homosexual marriage, and yet, your TELLING those who traditionally marry couples that they MUST perform them for same-sex couples. We have become Rome, and the barbarians are at the gate. When we ignore history, we will certainly repeat it.
Our constitution doesn’t allow people to decide all of government’s actions. For example: The Constitution wouldn’t allow California to implement a law (let’s call it Prop 9) to allow the enslavement of human beings, or importation of slaves. That’s the difference between a pure democracy and a constitutional republic.
The problem with your thinking is that the recent unconstitutional vote promulgated by the mormon church takes precedent over the Constitution of the United States.
The Constitution has been there much longer than that vote in California that stripped a group of people of their right to marry the person of their choosing.
What rights to you currently enjoy would you like to put up to a popular vote to see if you should have them stripped away in an unconstitutional manner?
As Winston Churchill said, “Democracy is the worst form of government that there is…except…for all of the rest.” So, give our Justice system, as devised and so evolved under our democratic Republic, the full measure of time to find the best balance of justice AND equality possible for ALL of the citizens of this Nation. Just as it has done with slavery and is still continuing to do with racism, sexism, and the fine line between Church and State.
The Mormon Church spent about twenty million dollars to sway the proposition 8 vote in California where that group only has about a total of1% Mormon Californians. So they say big government should stay out of peoples lives, but Conservative utahn’s went out of their way to try to influence voters in another state with massive amounts of cash. Hmmm,Mitt Romney might be asked about his churches involvement in government affairs if he were elected.
It’s odd how the justices of the past 140+ years had overlooked the gay marriage clause of the fourteenth amendment. I hope these new guys don’t find a pedophilia clause.
Yashpar, you do know that polygamy refers to having multiple wives, not young wives, right? And, looking at nature, there is in fact nothing unnatural about polygamy. However, given our societal norms, overpopulation, and male-to-female ratio, there are arguments against it.

A wee bit premature is this cartoon.
Until ( unless ) the Supreme Courtl upholds the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal’s decision, that ball is still very much on the table.

There is only one reason to fight against gay marriage: Because you want to hurt gay people.

So, Towerwarlock, explain to us why you think it’s the left who have been banning gay marriage, rather than blaming the right for banning it.

Sad that our “justice” system has become a pool hall hustler.

Yohann, you need to get your facts straight. Hate is losing, love is winning, and Christians should be pleased.
