Leaky had an unfortunate chandelier hanging and swinging incident, and the club management felt that he was a bit too foggy to drive home. They made him get a room, and sleep it off. If all goes well, and he sobers up, he should be back tomorrow.

So far, he hasn’t asked me to wire him any bail money…

I heard Leaky was one of those riverboat casinos and driving in the middle of the Miss. River is probably not a good idea.

Amish in Ohio? Do you think the Pennys may have been scammed?

Burl is acting surprised that they didn’t give anything? Really? If they ever did make any sort of donation, the earth would wobble on its axis and reverse rotation. Never gonna happen; never.I’m glad to hear the Leaky is OK, if somewhat inebriated. Good morning to all.

I thought I remembered them calling a couple of extra cents a donation to something a while ago….

But I’d never find the strip, and I’m probably wrong anyway, cos Burl probably has every penny he ever gave anybody (no pun intended) etched in his brain……

So in case he ever wants it back, he can claim it was just a loan.

And riiiight Joy….. you bought something as a “donation.”

January 23 Joy gave a homeless guy a coin that most Crustwoodians thought to be a penny, but Susan’s generous nature thought might be a whole quarter.

I’m pretty sure that there is a good sized Amish population in Ohio.

Joy can ride that broom down to the store . . .

Good morning everyone. Are you all feeling okay? The comments are a bit mild today.

There are several Amish communities in northern Ohio. One is close to the northeast side and there are a few more in the western area.

I grew up in Toledo and every so often you would see a grouip of Amish come to do some shopping. They always stayed in a group of any where from four to about twenty. They also pretty well kept to themselves. If I said “hi” they would nod and say “hi” back. Otherwise they didn’t really say anything to anyone outside their posse, with the exception of talking to a store employee about something they wanted to purchase.

wonder why the donation question. all he had to do was make qualifying long term stock transactions, and he’d get every penny of it back. wierd. i got 90% of my fed, and all of my state taxes back…i don’t get it.

I have been known to ride THIS KIDDIE TRAIN

and I love it!

It’s $2 for a short ride, and usually people are waiting, or I’d stay on it for hours.

Last little ride I took was in Detroit, Michigan at the Henry Ford Greenfield when I was in that state on a work project. I paid to stay theree for the weekend as I am fascinated by early machines (the steam engines and the generators were lovely and I managed to visit the entire site).

Thanks all for the info regarding the Amish.Now I won’t have to google it.

Dazz —When I was about 10, and we lived on an Air Force base overseas, I begged for, and got for Christmas, a German-made steam engine “toy.”

More like a model, it was a little platform with an attached tin model boiler, and its red-brick-printed tin smokestack.

By means of belts, cranks and pulleys, it powered a tiny tin table saw, run by a little tin workman, and some sort of table with two men hammering something.

As toys go, it didn’t do much — you filled and fired up the engine, and watched the little men and tools move…. endlessly.

But it was one of my most precious possessions for years.

(Yes, you guys, I’m easily entertained.)

I never had any great toys as a child- had to use my imagination (always good). At least we had more money by the time I was a teen, so I had a set of oil paints and did a few creative paintings (still could not get stretched canvas like now, but painted on pieces of plywood etc.)

@Daz & @ Susan…. I find your comments quite interesting….! ! Not many people see the beauty of machinery… .I wonder how BURL is doing…. on his Taxes…. ? ! ?
