    @PICTOI was thinking of that drum solo as well, but it only gets really good in what they called the long version, not the one they played on the radio.

    If it’s a snare drum solo piece, all the notes should be on one staff line (other than grace notes for flams).

    I can see why they would. What Tom really needs is a snare stand. He can turn pages for Mrs. Neeley without putting himself in harm’s way. But physically holding the drum with his knees is just wrong. It’s like trying to hold a drum for someone who is marching in a parade. Then having him turn pages too means he can’t use his hands for assistance with the drum. A recipe for failure.
