I remember when I first met * VLDAZZLE, it was at one of those “clothing optional” facilities.Back then we called them “Nudist Colonies” Everyone use to dress for breakfast except *Dazz**.One morning we were seated at this beautiful glass table and everytime I leaned forward to eat my eggs, well, there was * Dazz*.Memories like that kinda stick with ya!! She was always one of the first ones on the volleyball court. Boy could she spike that ball.Somebody gimme a tissue……..I cant go on………..
What kills me is that they’re always keeping score (viz: conversation w/Dazz a couple days ago about how somebody OWED the Penny’s TWO dinners : >http://www.gocomics.com/dinetteset/2011/10/18< ) They’ll put out peanuts in the shell, but when they go to somebody else’s place they’ll expect to be served lobster, filet mignon, champagne and caviar. heavy sigh So what else would we expect from them?
I’m sure the mouse died from insipid conversation; probably a suicide. Burl sure looks smirkingly self congratulatory for this keen insight of bamboozling his guests with shell peanuts. (If it was me; I’d grind the shells into the carpet……but then they would rationalize it as “good for the carpet”…..aaaarrrrggghhhh!!!!!!
You can rest assured that before the guests arrive—and certainly before any overnight guests—that Burl will lower the temp on the water heater. They always use the service rolls that Burl liberates from the U-Stor-It in the bathroom so that’s not a cost. Same goes for the hand soap.
They are sooo freaking cheap! I’m surprised that Burl doesn’t sneak out during dinner and siphon a couple of gallons of gas out of everyone’s car. I guess if I can think of it, he’s a master of it.
When it’s just the two of them, the Pennys’ table groans with extra side dishes and leftovers to round out a family size frozen entree.
Of course they can’t afford all that for 10 people.
So they’ll set out a few peanuts, and dinner will be some 2 for $1 canned corn from Big Lots, and one serving, according to the box, of frozen store brand lasagne…. not the good stuff — the Stauffer’s is only for them!
They don’t need bread, cos the lasagne is starchy…. maybe a little dessert?
Yeah, those two-tone sandwich cookies from MegaMart will do…. and will anyone notice that these snack-size Milky Ways have Halloween wrappers?
Marg — did you beef up your avatar to protect yourself from that sweet little Miss Penmark?
I know you call her “niece”…. but with a cast on your foot you’re kinda vulnerable.
Can you walk in it, or do you have to be wheeled about by Mr…um….Mr.Glad, there?
Leaky thanks for the Big Joe Turner break.
And….. I sense a …well…. a fading out and a gliiiiding back in…..
If I’m right…. and if that makes sense to you…. welcome back.
I don’t even buy peanuts, in a shell or otherwise. Cashews, pistachio nuts & pecans for everyone! If, that is, you can eat them. Some people may be allergic.
Good Morning everyone! Leaky, I have met some naturalists and they were in similar shape to the Pennys; one pair attended a corporate picnic in very “informal” attire, where I also saw that the husband was similar to Jerry. If I did that, I would not be able to show off all my pretty silks.
@Finale, I can see that they have no promlem with crumbs on the carpet; they may have nests of mice in those big chairs. I’d buy tables or bookshelves used but never anything upolstered.
@Raspberry, yes, bulk cashews aren’t even half what pecans cost; I buy only a handful of those. Walnuts are a little less and I keep a canister of those as I put a good cup in a recipe of breakfast bars (which now even have a 1/4 cup of chia seeds).
@Mikie, We’ve seen that Burl takes everything useful home from U-Store-It, but I don’t think even HE thought of siphoning; at least I don’t remember ever seeing or hearing of it (not even on Joy’s lists.
@Purple, I’m not sure they care for THAT kind of rich food; I think they just expect “real” Oreos, Bryers, and whatoever other sweet things they favor (always brand names).
We have a saloon called “Bill’s Pub”…. where they serve baskets of peanuts in the shell…. The shells are expected to find their way to the floor…. But don’t look away because if you do…. you will find peanuts in your beer….! ! ! .This is the kinda place where JOY could easily “find” peanuts for her party……… ! ! !
@Leaky, I missed one, and as to a lively dance I prefer “Rock around the Clock” -Bill Haley. I still prefer to do an interpretive dance when I’m alone (something like Jezabel, sung by Frankie Lane) but I can’t kick as high as I used to ;-P
@Marg — you’re probably right, they wouldn’t even know what those things are. Their idea of ‘good food’ is name brand convenience fare.
@sfreader1 — Yeah, I thought the same thing, but what they call a ‘dinner party’ is what I call snacks. Mickey D’s, HoHos, RingDings, Monicals frozen pizza — that’s what they serve their guests. Dinner party? Not from where I’m sitting! LOL!
Fellow Baby, WOOF WOOF! Au contraire mon Ami. But you aren’t the only one who gets this confused. Being in the position of NEEDING to know, I will enlighten those who don’t :-DA peanut, though many many people are allergic to them, is actually a legume, related to the family of beans and peas and such. And an almond, is actually a drupe, related to the peach Bet you didn’t know that. ;-)
Many of you are unaware of Marg & Dazz’s true profession!!When I first saw them, they were on stage and the following music was being played. Draw your own conclusions.Hit it Maestro
Oh Leaky! How did I guess (even before hitting your link) that it would be that melody so often used to depict “exotic dance” I have not done that at least in public and I would guess Marge as well. I loved to entertain my personal friends with song or dance especially after a few extra drinks ;-P I never used that melody however .@Purple, Did Susan also answer you on those foods? My prior was: I’m not sure they care for THAT kind of rich food; I think they just expect “real” Oreos, Bryers, and whatoever other sweet things they favor (always brand names).@Dry, it is very true that not everything normally referred to as “nuts” are officially in that category. I find almonds to hard to chew but I have them in ground form in the frig and I buy raw ones for Fitzroy. I used to like cashews but my favorites to snack are pecans and I use walnuts in my bars because I try to include everything healthy (they have the best Omega etc of any). Health benefits of chia was also recently disclosed and my breakfast bars have more stuff than I can remember without a list and have only the most natural sweetning (from organic apples, raisons and vanilla as well as ground cinnamon). I find that people who do not indulge in a lot of sugars can find natural sweetness. Even I would not find my grapefruit sweet AFTER strawberries, but it is yummy first thing in the morning (before breakfast). My daughter lets my grandson pile sugar on his, so he may never taste the fruit.
As to Burl’s comment, it takes no effort to open peanuts. Pistacios (on the other hand) DO take some effort but I love those as well as pecans. I buy them unshelled sometimes for that reason, but I know I should only have them without salt. And I always stay within the portion size ;-D
@vldazzle — yes, I think you’re right, I believe Susan said that. Sorry if I’m getting mixed up here. Brain like a sieve lately. Please forgive my, I’ve got a serious health issue: terminal cranial flatulence. Pity me! (grin)
OM GOODNESS! You guys are a riot! Esp. you Leaky! I have known Marg for awhile now, and all I can say is, Marg you never told me that! JFri and cleo will love it though! :-DAnd vldazzle, no wonder you are so active and busy! That certainly keeps you in great shape! I hear it’s GREAT exercise! ;-)

Honey roasted cashews are to die for. I had to stop buying them cuz I was eating them late at night while I was at the puter.
