Mr. Toles doesn’t let reality get in the way of a good visual gag. Most of the posters here seem clueless about what is going on in Europe and this cartoon isn’t helping. In case anyone is interested this articular is a decent start. (I hope the link works, otherwise go to the NY Times world section and look around.)http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/12/world/europe/euro-deal-is-a-pill-but-experts-doubt-it-is-a-cure.html?ref=world
Social Democrats shouldn’t be confused with Socialists. But the EU was created by people from across the political spectrum and is a remarkable successes. The Euro is another matter. I personally think it was WAY premature. It was actually pushed by banking and other corporate interests. In fact, the German Socialist party is the most skeptical of both EU and Euro…except for the right-wing nationalists of course.
American Democrats following policies like in Greece… you are a riot. Where do you come up with this stuff?

The Fourth Reich i.e. the EU is going down! The Germans share the same political views as our republicants. This will lead to disaster.
