First Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for March 17, 1985

Luann: Dear diary: Sometimes it's great to spend some time alone! Just relaxing in my room, taking it easy, doin' nothin'! While everyone else is out running around... or dancing... or going to the movies... I hope you're all jealous!!
“Duckling to Swan”? …. A young duck is called a “duckling”, while a young swan is called a “cygnet” or a “flapper”. So how does a young duck turn into a young adult swan? That isn’t genetically possible…
Congratulations on 39 years drawing a great comic strip! I loved when Luann dictated her diary on a cassette recorder. It makes me feel a bit old, thinking about cassette recorders and how popular they once were, but you and Luann have kept up with the times.

WOW! I always wondered what the first Luann was about. I wonder at what age Luann stopped recording her diary.

Luann is older than my son also born in 1985. He’s married now though, she is just about 20 in Luannverse time. Love this comic for over 30 years.
