The only problem with this storyline is the Twelve days of Christmas begin with Christmas Day and then continue. Not the twelve days before Christmas.

Right. 12 days of Christmas starting at December 25, which makes the last Day of Christmas January 5.And then, if you belong to the Russian Orthodox Church, which still uses the Julian Calendar, you get to have 12 days of Christmas starting on January 6.
