Isn’t that always the way, got all my outdoor lights down and put away, and lo and behold, but what to my wandering eyes should appear? No, not a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer, but a lone little roof hook! Which means I either put it away somewhere and forget where I put it until next year, or dig out all the lights to put the sole survivor away in it’s rightful spot. Decisions, decisions! Geez! :-D
I enjoyed going to the island to church. As mentioned, it was a beautiful sunny warm day to start with, then it started to rain, but we got a lift to the ferry and so I didn’t mind.
A local (Island) fellow was selling calendars, and thinking it was the $5.00 church calendar I get every year (we are liturgical, so it comes in handy), I said I’d buy one. It turns out that it is a calendar with photos of the Island, with a painting of that church on the front. I paid $20.00 for it. I didn’t have the heart to tell a formerly homeless man that I was broke myself. It is a lovely calendar. He is a regular member of the congregation, so they’ve all bought them.
Dry, I took my outdoor lights down today as well. Then we went to visit a friend who had a hip replacement less than two weeks ago. She has a beautiful view of the Sound and I realized that all of our closest friends have salt or lake water views.
That is nice Shika. I am sorry that I made light of the homeless man. It is wonderful that he has a home and is pursuing a talent and interest. This is a very special way to deal with homelessness. We all need to take an interest in those around us.
Oh LORD! Do I want to envision outside Christmas lights being taken down by a man, never mind that he’s cute and adorable, in his birthday suit? Something is really wrong with this picture! :-D Snerk, snicker, snort!
(Good thing there were no unexpected electrical surges at that time!)
The wind is kicking up BIG TIME! So glad I took those lights down today! I have decided to leave my tree up until next weekend. I love the ambiance of the tree lights. And they light the room up enough that you don’t need any other lighting. I wish I could find something similar for all year long. Any ideas anybody? Not a bright light, just a subtle lighting, but of course you would still need to turn the lamp on to read something if need be. But otherwise, this low but bright enough lighting is great.

I have always hated the end of holidays and particularly the beginning of January as there is nothing to look forward to until April.
