Gee, an unscripted appearance to reach millions of Americans, without a teleprompter no less, on a program hosted by a pretty conservative guy (who loves cars for crying out loud!) is something our “previous fearful leader” couldn’t pull off. Communicating to the American people isn’t frivolous, spending trillions of dollars on false wars and developing a “security structure” to keep them in the dark wasn’t “frivolous”, it was dangerous, and a direct threat to our freedoms. Now if Obama would just destruct some of that infrastructure a little more quickly and REALLY provide full openness on “non-classifed” material, much of which btw never should have been classified.

American Taxpayers need a “CAP” on taxpaid travel for US Presidents. I hope some outside the beltway organization is keeping count of Obama’s 4 years’ costs….and publishes a comparison with previous presidential travel.

if you stop and think about it for a moment, though, that’s actually whole point of taxes.

" . . . those roads, bridges, schools, parks, libraries,… …all totally frivolous.".They are NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! They are State and local responsibilities..On the other hand, defense is THE ONLY CONSTITUTIONALLY MANDATED FEDERAL RESPONSIBILITY.

I am waiting for Michael Moor’s documentary chronicling the jaunts of this president? It would surely get him yet another Oscar!

BO made it clear after his speech to the Congress that he was going on the road to sell his proposals to the citizens. To me, it looked like BO plans to charge the taxpayer for all his travels so far. Also, it looks like BO has gone to heavily popular locations to rally the faithful, until now. Lots of news reporters describe his trips as ‘campaign style’. BO is dishonest, right in our faces, if taxpayers get the bill. Mentioning the behavior of others will not justify This.

Actually, the Federal Highway System was started by Eisenhower – as a part of the US defense system..Unfortunately, over decades the program became a major source of POLITICAL PORK.

Eryx said, 1 day ago@metropolitan gnome Yeah, those roads, bridges, schools, parks, libraries,… …all totally frivolous…….end quote.-only Interstate roads are the responsibility of the Feds…using federal fuel taxes.State roads are the responsibility of each State; county, township roads are a Local responsibility.-Schools el-hi and Jr.Colleges are Local & State regional responsibility. I’m not sure about colleges/universities which are varied from “public” to “private”….-Parks and Libraries are definitely LOCAL tax unit plus private funding responsibilities.-Democrats and Leftists invented the “Federal Role” in these jurisdictions….nose in the tent gave the Socialist Camel its authority….Carter put Agencies into the Cabinet at Fed Level…energy (a private enterprise domain) and education…(a LOCAL jurisdiction)….Big Brother power and control thanks to Liberal faith in Marxism. IMO.

I think we can agree that at least President Carter walked his talk a lot more than the current president. Score 1 more point for President Carter…I think unless President Obama kills a few more bad guys, President Carter won’t be known as the worst president ever.

Are you too intellectual to understand the difference between state and local and Federal? You must be, for it takes at least one graduate degree to suspend logic.

“Wallets as a flotation device” reminds me of an old Volkswagen commercial showing a beetle floating in water. The announcer says, “It can definitely float, but it can’t float indefinitely.”
