Caulfield: Hey, Frazz, want a parakeet? My aunt found out she's allergic to bird...uh...dropp...um...never mind. Frazz: Nicely done there, Willy Loman. Caulfield: That's ok. I was just rehearsing my pitch.
I understand why Frazz called Caulfield Willy Loman, but why did Caulfield break down mid-pitch? Did he think that just mentioning bird droppings would be enough to kill any desire for the bird, as if the buyer wouldn’t even think of them otherwise? Or did he feel like a failure just for taking too long to come up with a polite term?
Frazz reminds me a lot of the janitor at my K-5 grade school. He would put colored chalk dust “elf footprints” on the floor on the hall outside our classrooms during the Christmas season.

I don’t get the connection to Death of a Salesman. prrdh, one of those wasr was how Bolivia lost its seacoast to Chile 1878-1880

Don’t get the black and white format, or the reference to Death of a Salesman. Please explain both if you can.

If “Frazz” is targeting only people who know “Death of a Salesman”, it’s never going to be the next “Garfield”.
As for all the non-colored cartoons today, is it somebody’s day off? Back-up on the Interstate? Somebody laid off? Holiday in Mumbai?
Varnes: Willy Loman was not a good salesman. Get it now?

It’s a comic about bird droppings; it only makes sense that it would be in black and white.

Any explanation for the lack of color?

If you magnify it it’s in color.
