You have to remember that cops were invented to maintain the status quo. (Although we ALL would be screwed without ’em!)

Originally, the (e)scapegoat was burdened with the sins of the people and released into the wilderness to take the sins away. A lamb was then sacrificed. Funny how words change meaning.
