I don't turn everything into a contest. I'm not obsessed with who's the fastest or the strongest or the most talented." Nate says, "You're just afraid I'll beat you!" Francis says, "No. I'm not." Nate says, "What if I give you a head start?" Francis says, "No." Nate says, "How 'bout we a play a game of 'horse'?" Francis says, "Nuh-uh." Nate says, "Let's arm wrestle, then!" Well, MY Q-score for Francis just jumped from 70 to 80! Teddy: 90. Artur: 95 (he’s a sweet boy with a huge heart). Chad: 80..Nate? Well, I give Nate a 30. Yes, I’m the only Big Nate fan that doesn’t really like Nate very much. In fact he frequently annoys me and I find a little of evil pleasure when things don’t go his way, like today.

It would be interesting to see Nate and Francis’s personalities switched. Nate would be smart, and Francis would be the main character, with all the ideas, and he is a cartoonist. Big Francis. Wouldn’t be as good as Big Nate, but it would be cool to see. By the way, Mr. Peirce, have you written a 2012 Big Nate strip yet? Probably.

I don’t actively dislike Nate, but if I were a character in this strip I’d probably relate to him the way Francis and Teddy do: he’s a jerk, but he’s essentially harmless and he’s frequently entertaining to hang around with.
I DO find it very sad that his dad won’t let him have a dog, though. That’s one battle I’d like to see him WIN, even though it would close off future Spitsy storylines. (And this is from a guy who NEVER wanted to see Charlie Brown kick the football.) Maybe you could give Artur get a dog, and Nate another reason to be envious of him?
