His shirt says “Staff”, not “Referee” or “Coach”… and I know of no spectator sport using beach balls - though I do confess ignorance of most things athletic. So I have no idea why he’s deflating one, and incurring the wrath of an even bigger one. Hmmmm…. maybe a terrifyingly huge sea lion is throwing the giant ball at him for taking the smaller one from her pup? Nah. His shirt doesn’t say “Trainer” either.Anybody?Otto - you could do it again!

OK, I think it is about time for The Prisoner a.k.a. Number 6 to make an appropriate comment. Or is this G&R’s rendering of him as per susansunshine?

Not the Prisoner. Now THAT never really made any sense, but this one is just simple fun, like the odd characters at the bar on another strip today.

Okaaaaayyyy……. um….. I get the connection to No. 6 and Rover, of course, though I doubt that’s the intention….. And Otto you have an amazing imagination if you think I have anything to do with it.(And…um…. what do you mean by my “edits”? Do hope you enjoyed last weeks dialogue though. LOL) I’m with all who think the big balloon is attacking in revenge for the deflation of the little one….BUT - these people are not at the beach, playing with beach balls, they’re spectators, sitting in seats…. at what kind of event????That’s where I’m still lost. I admit it!

One more thing — I do wish people wouldn’t put down things they know other people here enjoy, OR launch counter-attacks at those who don’t care for whatever it is they do.That goes for BOTH sides. And personally, though some may find it cute, I wish no one had discovered how to “shout” in headers.Unless you really believe you’re making the most important comment ever, bold and/or CAPS are quite loud enough for any forum, thank you.

Beware people. When you hit the escape key to stop Lafin Larry, make sure you don’t hit it when the bald spot is showing!!!!

There was a more subtle homage to The Prisoner called Nowhere Man. Something like the Village appeared in one episode. The remake was interesting, but was not enough like the original to be of the same “universe”.

We are viewing the crowd at a sporting event. (The specific sport is irrelevant. If you need to imagine a sport, I suggest baseball.) As at many such events, the crowd is tossing around a beach ball. (Note: the faces in the crowd are all happy.) A staff member of the facility is perturbed when the beach ball threatens to interfere with the unspecified sport. So, he takes the opportunity to catch the ball when it comes his way. (Note: the faces are now concerned.) He proceeds to pop the ball. (Note: the faces are all angry.) When a gigantic beach ball jettisons his way, perhaps thrown by an angry crowd member, justice has been served. (Note: the faces now express joy and contentment.)

One of things that I find brilliant in this particular comic is the crowd. They are the same people, frame by frame, but they change a bit and interact with what’s going on. It’s charming!

As for the giant ball? My best guess is: “Pick on someone your own size!”

Ah… well, as I have neither, I’m no sir, and I’m not so smart. May be more “smart alec” than smart. I do enjoy puzzles and games.

I only found the changes in the people because I kept coming back hoping to be hit by the punchline that I’m sure is right here somewhere…!

Oh well… I guess I’ll have to go to bed clueless, at least as far as Brevity is concerned.

    Take care.

I get it, at a lot of the concerts and stuff now where they used to blow up beach balls and bat them around amongst the crowd, they will not allow it now. If a security person gets it they will deflate them, so someone is getting even with a giant one lol!
