@ Beatles777 & Hsawlrae: You of course, speak of the child of a woman who can cook her way out of a wet paper bag. My mother sucked in the kitchen, and knew better than to try that crap on us. Feed us edible food and we’ll eat it.

These are wonderful re-runs of a comic strip that was very advanced for its time. I do not understand why so many people here try to belittle the characters and the strip! Lynn Johnston was a wonderful cartoonist!

Be glad you get to see these yet! Stop "picking nits’ where there aren’t any but yours!

1982. This was 1982. How many times does it have to be said, there are NO NEW regular strips… it’s 99% reruns, 1% ‘new stuff’.

In 1982, your neighbours helped… everyone watched out for everyone else. If Bob, Sue, Jime and Sally were outside, you knew ONE parent was keeping an eye on them, and you just looked out the window every so often.

Perhaps ‘everybody’ doesn’t ‘care’ to your exacting standards and methods. I don’t see Editor-in-Charge as part of your title.

    “Hey, Grandpa! What’s for lunch?!”

“A bowl of soup that smells like somethin’ died,A little poached egg I wish were fried,And a sippy-cup of milk on the side.”

“Uh, no thanks. We’ll try again at supper!”

Try Pluggers, Doonesbury, Fort Knox, Speed Bump, Wizard of Id and Lio here at Go Comics.

Beetle Bailey, Blondie, Hi and Lois, Dennis and Family Circus all have nice 9/11 remembrances but you’ll have to check out AZ central for them because Go Comics doesn’t carry them.

Very impressive!!!!! For a 3-year-old, Lizzie’s pretty darn smart and resourceful!!! I certainly wouldn’t have thought of doing that when I was her age!

(Of course, if I had, my dad would have spanked me for it later! My mother wasn’t much of a cook but he would have considered that a huge insult to her feelings that wouldn’t have been tolerated. And by the way, just as hsawlrae suggested, my dinner later would have been what I had refused to eat earlier and it definitely would have been served cold . . . and I wouldn’t have been allowed to leave the dinner table until every last drop was eaten either.)

E;izabeth’s probably dining away on Canadian cuisine: sausage rolls or bean on toast. Yummy, eh.? But I’m from Pennaylvania.

@hsawlrae -I also agree-that is what my parents did. Our kitchen table had u-shaped legs of tubular chromed steel and my brother and I eventually stuffed those legs with uneaten food (so we could “leave the table”. I took over cooking duties in 7th grade because I wanted good food. I had a few speedbumps, but eventually everyone was happy!

@Gibbon Man & @Trapper John (and perhaps others):like you I replied to the comment about Lynn not caring because the strip didn’t have a 9/11 theme. That comment was removed and along with it the Reply indication in my comment, so I removed mine as well. You may want to do the same because, without the @whoever saying who it was directed to, your comment loses its meaning. I miss the Edit button.
